Born:

 Helen Goddard Christie, age 83 of Harriman passed away Saturday May 10, 2008 at Marshall C. Voss Health Center in Harriman. She was born June 24, 1924 in Blount County Tennessee to Luther and Emma Goddard. She was a loving mother and wife. She was involved in many community affairs often offering help to others through the church ministry and civic organizations. She was very active in the Seventh Step Foundation and volunteered at the Science and Energy Museum.
Mrs. Christie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband F.O. Christie.
Survivors include her three sons; Robert Christie of Harriman, Keith Christie and wife Andrea of Hawaii, and Steve Christie and wife Kimberly of Harriman. One sister Jacquiline Ferguson and husband Fenton of Aiken, S.C., seven grandchildren; April Niztche, Robert Christie, Kaylie Christie, Heather Gray, Jarrid Gray, Carter Christie and Cole Christie and Two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday May15, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Kern Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Bales officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home.
