Ray Douglas Fortney, age 79, of Oak Ridge passed away Thursday December 4, 2008 at Briarcliff Health Care.
Mr. Fortney was born March 22, 1929 in Harlan, Kentucky to the late T. Guy Fortney, Sr. and Grace Douglas Fortney.
Mr. Fortney is survived by his brother Dr. T. Guy Fortney, Jr. of Oak Ridge, cousins; Bill Glenn Fortney of Corbin, Kentucky, Dr. Homer Fortney of Harlan, Kentucky, Dr. Sidney Ray Fortney of Southport, North Carolina, Larry Habich of Louisville, Kentucky, Ned Beatty of Camp Nelson, California, Chestine McDaniels of Lexington, Kentucky, Ben Hambright of El Segundo, California, and Guy Thomas and Jim Wilcox of South Carrollton, Kentucky.
Funeral Services were held Monday December 8, 2008 7:00pm in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Kentucky with Rev. Kyle Burnette and Rev. Barry E. Leonard officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the funeral home. Graveside services were held Tuesday December 9, 2008 10:00am at Resthaven Cemetery in Loyall, Kentucky.
