Isabella Stewart Kerr, age 90 of Oak Ridge passed
away June 2, 2008 at Methodist Medical Center. She was born in New York City
February 29, 1918 to James and Helen Stewart. She married James Kerr in 1939
and moved to Oak Ridge in 1945 when her husband went to work on the
Manhattan Project. She and her husband enjoyed dancing and were founding
member of the Dance of the Month Club. She was also active in Girl Scouts
for many years. She served as troop leader, cookie chairman and with the
Camp Friendship Day Camp program. After her father’s death in 1961 she
started volunteering and later worked as a substitute at Daniel Arthur
Rehabilitation Center. She was a lifetime member of the St. Andrew’s Society
of East Tennessee. She served on the Oak Ridge Elder Citizen’s Advisory
Board for many years. She was also active in the local chapter of the
Arthritis Foundation. She loved knitting, working crossword puzzles,
traveling, cooking and reading. |
