Catherine N. (Kit) Kuperstock, 79, died December 13 at
Harriman Care nursing home in Harriman, Tennessee.
She was born April 15, 1929, in Paris, Arkansas, and was raised in West
Memphis, Arkansas and Nashville, Tennessee.
Kit, as she was known, attended Vanderbilt University and later received her
bachelors and masters degrees from University of Tennessee-Nashville.
She and her then-husband, Brandt, moved to Oak Ridge in 1952 and she was a
resident of Oak Ridge from then until moving to Nashville in 1975. Upon
retirement she returned to Oak Ridge in 1988, and she moved to Hariman Care
in 2006.
Before moving to Harriman Care, she had been an active member of First
United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge, and previously the Unitarian Church of
Oak Ridge.
Kit was preceeded in death by her parents, Griffith Rutherford and Naomi
(Dixie) Norfleet; and one infant son, Randy.
She is survived by five sons and two daughters-in-law: Alan Kuperstock of
Oak Ridge; John Eric Kuperstock of Reno, Nevada; Steve Kuperstock of
Franklinton, Louisiana; Stuart Edward Kuperstock and Kathy of Cedar Rapids,
Iowa; and Robert Arthur Kuperstock and Lori of Hawthorne, California. She is
also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Kay Norfleet of
Lemont, Illinois; a grandson, Kevin Kuperstock of Franklinton, Louisiana; a
granddaughter, Hannah Rathkamp of Fairfax, Virginia; a niece, Kristen Doty
of Wheaton, Illinois; and two nephews, Gregory Norfleet of West Branch, Iowa
and Geoff Norfleet of Chicago, Illinois.
In accordance with her wishes, a memorial service will be held at a later
date in the Smoky Mountains.
