Carol Elliott Reynolds
A Wonderful Wife and Mother
Carol E. Reynolds, age 75, of Oak Ridge, TN passed away on Sunday, May 24,
2009, at Golden Living-Windwood in Clinton, TN.
She was born on August 21, 1933 in Johnson City, TN. to parents Viola Stepp
Elliott and Earl B. Elliott.
She moved to Oak Ridge, TN. from Elizabethton, TN in August of 1945 with her
mother and younger brother Glenn.
Carol was a 1951 graduate of Oak Ridge High School and had been active for
many years organizing reunions to keep all the early ORHS friends in touch
with one another. She especially enjoyed these times of fellowship.
Bill Reynolds (ORHS class of 1949) and Carol were married November 8, 1952
at the “Chapel on the Hill” in Oak Ridge.
Carol was a beautiful petite woman with a big heart and a strong will. She
followed Bill into a life in the United States Air Force for 22 years. They
made many moves throughout their military career, living in California,
Florida, Texas, and England before returning to Oak Ridge in 1972. Carol
made many of these moves by herself with three children. Upon returning to
Oak Ridge she became a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, an older brother Bobby
Carroll Elliott who died in infancy, and a niece Robin Kay Elliott.
Carol especially loved getting together with long-time friends and extended
family. She traveled often to see her numerous aunts, uncles, cousins,
nieces and nephews in Johnson City and Elizabethton, TN.
Another thing Carol enjoyed was her flowers. She planted beautiful gardens
at each of her homes throughout the years. She loved to have her fingers in
the soil planting gardens. Very frequently these flowers would make it on
her dining room table in a beautiful arrangement for her family and friends
to enjoy. A highlight of her time living in England was a trip she made to
Holland to see the stunning tulip gardens. She really enjoyed this and we
have many great pictures to remind us of her trip.
Carol had a host of different jobs during her lifetime. She had a strong
work ethic which many recognized. She also made many long-term friendships
during some of these places of employment. Her last job before she retired
was at Proffitt’s Department Store in the Customer Service/Credit
Department.
Carol is survived by her husband of 56 years, William Walker Reynolds Jr.
(Bill), of Oak Ridge,; her three children, daughter, Melissa Anne Witt
(Lisa) and her husband Bill Witt of Clinton,; son, William Walker Reynolds
III (Billy) and his wife Lee Ann Reynolds of Oak Ridge,; daughter, Melanie
Carol Reynolds Braden and her husband Steve, of Oak Ridge, a brother, Vernon
Glenn Elliott (Glenn) of Oak Ridge,; grandchildren, Benjamin William Witt

Reynolds IV (Will) of Katy, Texas,; Nicole Bradford of Oak Ridge,; Jessica
Carol Braden and Jared Steven Braden of Oak Ridge,; great-grandchildren,

Ridge,; a very special Aunt, Mary Jewell Elliott (Aunt Judy),; several other

Home in Oak Ridge with Kenneth R. Senter, Elder, Covenant Presbyterian
Church officiating. Her internment will be immediately following the
Memorial Service at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
