Rickman, Rebecca-age 90 and 1/2 of Oak Ridge passed away peacefully at Methodist Hospital January 25, 2009. She was born May 26, 1918 in Hartsville, TN, and moved to Oak Ridge in 1946 along with her parents and her brother, O.K. Rickman, Jr., who preceded her in death.

Survivors include her niece Becky Jo (Rickman) Johnson and Colonel Thomas G. Johnson, USA, ret., great-niece Caroline Johnson-Stephens and Jonathon, great-nephew Rick Johnson and Christine and eight great-great-nieces and nephews.

She worked at the Oak Ridge National Lab where her distinguished service culminated in promotion to administrative assistant to, among other notables, division chiefs, Messrs. Blizzard and Maienschein.

Rebecca was a recognized member of the Oak Ridge Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) for 51 years. She was president of the Tennessee Division from 1960 to 1962.

Theme parties at home were her specality--UT football, Kentucky Derby, and most holidays. Nearly any occasion would give her a chance to decorate herself and her house to entertain her friends with food and chatter. She constantly networked to help friends find jobs, fresh vegetables, or that perfect gift for Christmas. She was a doer!

Graveside services will be held Thursday January 29, 2009 at 2:00pm in the Old Hartsville Cemetery in Hartsville, Tennessee. The family will receive friends on Wednesday January 28, 2009 at 1:00 to 3:00pm at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home.
