Born:

John James Sewell, Sr., age 69, of oak Ridge passed away Wednesday July 2, 2008 at the Sunbridge Nursing Home in LaFollette.
Mr. Sewell was born June 11, 1939 in Colmar, Kentucky to the late John and Vivian Lee Sewell. A 1957 graduate of Oak Ridge High School and was a member of the track team. John spent eight years in the National Guard and enjoyed drag racing, fishing, and was a member of Central Baptist Church. John was retired from Y-12 where he was employed as a dispatcher.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother Marcus Sewell. John is survived by four sons: John J. Sewell, Jr. and his wife Susan of oak Ridge, Allen Sewell of Oak Ridge, Tracy S. Sewell and his wife Victoria of Covington, Georgia, and Anthony Sewell also of Georgia, one brother Mike Sewell and his wife Tina of Corbin, Kentucky, two sisters Barbara Baker and her husband Larry of Oak Ridge and Elizabeth Couch and her husband Joe of Lexington, Kentucky, and seven grandchildren.
A celebration of John’s life was held at 2:00pm Saturday July 5, 2008 at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home.
