Ery Milton “Speedy” Spencer, age 83 of Oak Ridge passed
away Saturday November 8, 2008 at Brakebill Nursing Home in Knoxville, TN.
Born June 30, 1925 in Quantico, VA to the late Ery Milton Spencer and Helen
Spencer. Mr. Spencer took various classes at University of North Carolina,
University of Tennessee, and University of Tennessee extension courses. He
was a veteran of WWII serving in the USMC. He retired from Union Carbide as
a Material Planner after 38 years. He was a member or the Oak Ridge Family
Bible Church and Sertoma International. Mr. Spencer was very social, he
loved to laugh and cut up with people. He enjoyed listening to bands, and
dancing. He Played the saxophone in a banc and later at church He enjoyed
fishing, reading, collecting books from many different areas of interest.
Loved his church, gospel music and watching Billy Graham on TV. He always
had 2 or more pets. After retirement, Bud made many friends while working at
Goody’s, Ridge florist deliveries, and K25 escorting. Although he later
moved to Myrtle Beach to be with his daughter , he stayed in touch with many
as he continued to make new friends everywhere he went. He never met a
stranger. He was known as a very generous and fun-loving guy who often had a
heart for helping others. He would try almost anything, loved to be “on the
go”, and was always very young at Heart. His last big adventure was riding
large roller coasters at Universal Studios in Florida at 80 years old. |
