Elmer James Templeton
Father of Lois Noe
Elmer James Templeton, age 96, of Maryville, formerly of Oak Ridge, passed
away Saturday February 28, 2009 at Asbury Place Nursing Home in Maryville.
Mr. Templeton was born March 2, 1912 in Scott County Virginia to the late
William Floyd and Lummie D. Edwards Templeton. Elmer moved to Oak Ridge in
1945 and went to work at K-25 as a chemical operator where he was employed
for 17 years at which time he left to work for himself. He had a great love
for God and his family and enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Mildred M. Akers Templeton in
1990. son Billy James Templeton, three sisters, and three brothers. Mr.
Templeton is survived by four daughters: Betty Mercks of Maryville, Lois Noe
of Oak Ridge, Marie Smith of Chattanooga, and Peggy Wayland and her husband
Teddy of Andersonville, one son David Templeton of Argo, Alabama, 19
grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 3, 2009 3:00pm in the chapel of
Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with Rev Penney Phipps officiating with
interment to follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive
friends from 2:00 to 3:00pm Tuesday March 3, 2009 at the funeral home.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of
Asbury Place Nursing Home for the love and care provided to Elmer.
