Tsai-Tse (Tai) Wang, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Monday, December 22, 2008, after a brave battle with cancer. Tai was born in Yangzhou, China in 1921. She was the second child of Zhu Zi-Qing and Wu Tsung-Qiang. She married her beloved husband, Yung-Liang Wang in 1946 in Kuming, China. They moved to Taiwan in 1948 where Yung-Liang worked as an engineer for the Chinese Petroleum Company. Tai, along with her four children immigrated to the U. S. in 1964 after Yung-Liang completed his Ph.D. in Geophysics. They lived in Irving for the following 32 years until Yung-Liang passed away in 1997. Tai then moved to her daughter Tsewei’s home in Oak Ridge Tennessee and lived there since. While in Oak Ridge, Tai was a member of the OR chapter of AARP and enjoyed going to her Tai-Chi classes at the local Senior Center on a regular basis, where she made many friends and was a very popular member of the class. She was a loving grandmother to Tsewei’s two children, cooking Chinese snacks for them and showing them origami skills. She will be missed greatly by her family. She is survived by her children, James Yu, Tsewei, Tsesan, and Si, their spouses, Irene, Doug Birdwell, John Shaw, and Jill. as well as her ten grandchildren, Stephanie, Alex, James, Charles, April, Nicole, Jeffrey, Calvin, Michael, and Christopher. The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm, on Tuesday, December 30 followed by a brief memorial service at 3 pm, at the Martin Funeral Home, 1017 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge.
