James Hoyt Brown, 77, of Decatur, AL. formerly of Oak
Ridge, TN, went to be with his Lord October 19, 2007.
James was born June 7, 1930 near Martin, in Franklin County, GA to the late
Thomas Luther Brown Sr. and Mary Ann Hulsey Brown. He was a veteran of the
Korean War serving in the U. S. Navy from 1947-1956 on the USS Algerholm. He
was a past Master of the Faith Masonic Lodge #756 in Oak Ridge, TN. He
enjoyed tinkering around with computers and talking on his ham radio. He
trained as a Reactor Operator at Oak Ridge National Labs. He was later a
Gilded Electrician working in several states. He recently moved to Alabama
where he passed away at the VA Hospital.
Proceeding him in death were his parents and one brother , Thomas Luther
Brown II and two brother-in-laws, Sam Reynolds of Oak Ridge, TN and Albert
Lee Bowman of Idaho Falls, I. Survivors include his daughter, Mary Clara
Brown Woods & husband Peter of Kingston Springs, TN, two grand-daughters,
two sisters; Louise Brown Reynolds of Oak Ridge, TN and Dorothy Brown Bowman
of Idaho; and two brothers, Joseph W. Brown of Tucker, GA and Charles F.
Brown and Pat of Decatur, AL.
Funeral services were held by Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. Buried with
military honors was at Oak Ridge Memorial Park at 1 pm. Sunday, October 21,
2007. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be given to the
Gideon’s International.
