 David Roswell Clark, age 79, of Oak Ridge died December 27, 2007 at NHC Oak Ridge. He was born February 11, 1928 in Jellico, Tennessee and resided in Oak Ridge for many years.
Mr. Clark was reared in Maryville, Tennessee and was an avid sportsman. He was selected as a member of the Blount County Sports Hall of Fame for his contributions as an athlete in high school, college and professional football as well as high school and college basketball. He attended the College of William and Mary and Maryville College.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. An avid golfer, Mr. Clark was twice elected president of the Oak Ridge Country Club. He was employed as a health physicist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he retired. He enjoyed coaching recreational and youth sports teams for many years. Mr. Clark was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Merle Clark and his parents V.L. Clark and Charlotte Clark. Mr. Clark is survived by his sisters and brother Mary Jordan, Jan Locke and Charlie Clark as well as a son and daughter-in-law Dave and Josephine Clark and grandchildren Ashton and Duncan Clark all of Oak Ridge. He is also survived by two step-sons, Terry Humphrys of Oak Ridge and Dean Humphrys of Seymour.
In lieu of flowers, the family request any memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church Youth Choir: 1350 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
The family will receive friends at First United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 o’clock on Wednesday January 2, 2008 with a service to follow in the church sanctuary at 2:00 o’clock with Dr. Stella Roberts officiating and interment in the church memorial garden immediately afterwards.
