Fannie Irene Farmer Hamby, age 92, of Oak Ridge, died
Sunday February 17, 2008 at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge.
She was born November 28, 1915, in Grainger County. She had been an Oak
Ridge resident since 1945. She worked in the K-25 Cafeteria for ten years.
She was an Avon representative for 42 years. She was a member of Central
Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hettie Farmer, and
sisters, Ruby Bullen and Gail Bullen, step-daughter, Betty Nicely, and step
son Bill Farmer.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John C. Hamby of Oak Ridge;
daughter and son-in-law Helen and “Jay” Gilliam; grandchildren, Barney and
Huei-Jen Gilliam of Abilene, Texas; “Deckie” and Tom Conley, Jim and Beverly
Gilliam, Sue Gilliam Ogle, and Joe Gilliam, all of Oak Ridge;
great-grandchildren, Janice Bruce, Jennifer Koehl, John Gilliam, Kelly
Herbert, Rachael Conley, Lisa Gilliam, Stacey McLemore, Tammy Duncan, Shana
Walker, Amy Ogle, Theo Ogle, Chrissy Ogle; several
great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday February 20, 2008 5:30 to
7:00pm at martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. The funeral will follow immediately
at 7:00pm with Rev. Glenn Ellis officiating. Burial will be at 1:00pm on
Thursday February 21, 2008 at the Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
