Fannie Belle Morgan, age 97, of Oak Ridge passed away
Wednesday March 26, 2008 at the Harriman Care and Rehab Center.
Mrs. Morgan was born February 7, 1911 in White Rock, South Carolina to the
late John Joseph and Ellen Stack Lowman. She married the late Otis G. Morgan
June 30, 1934 in Columbia, South Carolina. Mrs. Morgan attended Summerland
College in Batesburg, South Carolina and received her R.N. degree from
Columbia Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina in 1933 and worked as a
surgery nurse. Mrs. Morgan moved to Oak Ridge with her family in 1944. She
was a member of First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge.
In addition to her husband and parents Mrs. Morgan is preceded in death by
four brothers; John, Karl, Paul, and Joe Lowman. She is survived by one
daughter and son-in-law Patricia E. and D. Neal Smith of Oak Ridge, three
grandchildren and their spouses, Mitzie and Bernie Weber of Houston, TX,
Michael and Toni Smith of Athens, GA, and Teresa and Bill Outhier of
Brentwood, TN, great grandchildren; Claire Weber of Houston, TX, Chris Weber
of Fayetteville, AR, Cati Smith of Gainesville, GA, Neal and Barbara Ellen
Smith of Athens, GA, Susannah and William Outhier of Brentwood, TN, and her
older sister Lessie Summer of White Rock, SC.
A memorial service will be held Saturday March 29, 2008 2:00pm at First
United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge with Dr. Stella Roberts officiating.
Interment will follow at 3:30pm at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will
receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30pm on Saturday at the church.
