Born:

William “Bill” Ramsey, age 69, of Oak Ridge went home to be with the Lord Sunday August 19th, 2007 with his family by his side.
Mr. Ramsey was born March 5, 1938 in Rossville, Georgia and moved to Oak Ridge in the 1940’s with his parents. He served in the Reserve of the United States Marine Corps and was employed at Union Carbide/Martin Marietta for over 37 years from which he retired in March of 1996. A loving father and grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, traveling and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Elta Ramsey. Mr. Ramsey is survived by his son, Mike Ramsey and wife Mechelle of Oak Ridge, his daughter, Donna Young and husband Kenton of Oak Ridge, a brother David Ramsey of Tampa, Florida, grandchildren Joshua Young and wife Meghan of Montgomery, Alabama, Justin Young and wife Miranda of Oak Ridge, Cori and Taylor Ramsey of Oak Ridge, great grandchildren Cade and Cohen Young of Oak Ridge. He is also survived by the mother of his children Jackie Ramsey of Oak Ridge, and his loving companion Yvonne Mitchell of Knoxville.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 23, 2007 8:00pm in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Metler officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 23, 2007 6:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held Friday August 24, 2007 10:30am at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial gifts be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of William “Bill” Ramsey at 871 Weisgarber Rd.
